Hey everybody,

Monday 17th of march is the official releasedate of my track ‘Absolutely No Regrets’ on the excellent Curle imprint from Belgium. I am honoured to share this record with a producer I really admire, Denis Karimani. His track ‘Melted’ on the flipside is just awesome… The 12 inch allready received wonderfull feedback from key players in the techno scene. Check it out:

Dave Clarke: Hi, really Like Darko’s track, his best yet….. One of my White Noise favorites
John Acquaviva: darko esser is very good, thanks for the tunes
Josh Wink (Ovum): darko esser – I have been fortunate to have had this track for a while… Been playing it out, and now happy to have it mastered! It’s a nice track to drop in a set as it takes me and the crowd DEEP! Sexy techy stuff from Darko! Thanks!
Laurent Garnier: LLOOOOVVVEEE both sides, another very strong release on Curle. Brilliant! full support from me
Michael Mayer (Kompakt): It’s alright, thanks
Karotte (Cocoon Club): darko esser is a nice track that builds up and up. i like it
Efdemin (Dial): thanks for this one. I will play it tonight! like the Darko track because it´s easy and got a childish feeling to it.
Fabrice Lig (Third Ear, Versatile): Two Nice tracks! Like the Darko esser’s particular beat and sounds, really special track. Dennis Karimani is More dancefloor oriented and it works! nice music again.
Monika Kruse: nice floating tunes… i like them! thanx!
Dan Curtin (Tuning Spork, Peacefrog): Absolutely No Regrets is a standout track that is working well on the floor, it grabs the attention of the crowd because it doesn’t really sound like any other track, but a track like that has to be able to back it all up with function and this one really does with the builds, breaks and groove, and the surprise melody near the end is a nice touch that people seem to respond to very well. Melted is more upfront and a very useful DJ tool when it is time to get a little harder! Full support on this EP!
Benno Blome (Sender): great tracks! great label!
Chris Fortier (Balance, Bedrock): the darko esser track is wicked, i really like it. thanks! played it last weekend and was big.
Lee Burridge (Balance, Global Underground): the denis karimani track is mean and twisted for a bigger moment. Just the way I like it!
James Talk (Spoken Rec): wicked man, thanks, both tunes sound hot!
Mark August (Innervisions, Connaisseur): Darko’s track will rock many dancefloors in the near future. its simplicity versus full effect is the combination that makes people go out of their minds on the floor. cool stuff, will play! thanx.
Dub Kult (Raum, Arcola): love the darko esser track. i’ll definately play out. full support from me
Anthony Collins (Get Physical, Resopal): i really like the darko esser track, really cool. thanks a lot for this hot music !!!
Reynold (Trenton, Persona): Darko’s track is really really GREAT.. will play for sure!!!!! thanx for the music
Tampopo (Gigolo, Trapez Ltd.):The Denis Karimani is the ONE for me on this slice. I like the 90’s ravish flavour ‘Melted’ brings and the flow of energy coming out of this track. Ace neo-euro-techno with nerves, never boring, always uplifting… We need more like this please!
Tomaz (Switch/StuBru): Again spot on for Curle. Both tracks go down very well on the floor. Full support !

Hey everybody,

There’s a review on the ultracool Resident Advisor website from The Return Of The Hummingbird EP on my label Wolfskuil Records. Big thanx to the RA crew for the support!

There’s always been an efficient quality to Darko Esser’s productions. He gets the most out of every melody, squeezing and torquing his riffs through countless effects, until there’s nothing left but a pulpless rind in the end. It’s this studio skill, devoid of pointless bells and whistles, that’s most endearing about his sound.

Esser’s latest 12-inch, The Return of The Hummingbird, is very much in this vein. Reminiscent of Kerri Chandler, A-side ‘The Return’ is a joyous deep house track with syncopated claps and deep kicks in its engine room. It’s a simple idea, much like his and Benny Rodrigues’ gem from last year, ‘Paradox’, with a gorgeous tidal melody building and ebbing throughout. It’s a guaranteed crowdpleaser.

On the flip, ‘Hummingbird’ is more expansive and soaring, rife with woodblocks and summertime smiles, but a tumbling electro lead line changes it’s direction, taking you from a sun-bathed balcony by the beach to the sweaty dancefloor. But best is the big breakdown, which feels like a gigantic wave crashing and pummeling you towards the bottom of sea.

The feedback sheet for this release was around two pages long, but I’ll spare you what the DJs are saying. In short, this release is pretty damn good. It’s like a cold beer on a hot day. It’s like a Rose Byrne movie on a lonely night. Nothing too complicated, just two great tracks that will make you smile.
